Authors have more publishing choices than ever before

Things are changing so rapidly it's difficult to decide...

  • There is no one "right" or "wrong" way to get published - but it's important to select the best method for YOU and your project. What are your expectations? It is critical to know the advantages and disadvantages within the myriad of methods available, so you can choose wisely. Here are a few common routes to publishing:
  • Traditional - with Literary Agent Representation, aiming for a Large East Coast Publisher
  • Traditional - with a Small, Independent, or University Press
  • EPublish - with a Small Ebook only Press
  • Subsidy - using paid-for services, under a company's imprint
  • Book Packaging - using a Coach or Book Packaging Service, using your own or their ISBN
  • Self (Author) Publishing - doing it yourself - forming your own company and buying an ISBN block, then hiring out parts of the project as needed (editing, typesetting, book cover, etc.)
  • Let me say this one more time - DON'T GET BURNED! - If you want to spend thousands of dollars that's fine, as long as you know what you are paying for, and who has control over your book...
